Introduction to Endodontics Mini-Residency for General Dentists
Welcome to the specialized course on Small Group Hands-On Endodontics, tailored for general dentists who aspire to enhance their practical skills in the field of endodontics. This unique program combines interactive lectures, case discussions, and intensive hands-on practice to provide you with an immersive learning experience. As a participant in this course, you will have the invaluable opportunity to work closely with an experienced endodontist (Dr. Leslie Wang) and a small group of peers, allowing for personalized attention and guidance throughout the training.
The course will focus on refining your understanding of endodontic principles, diagnostic techniques, and treatment planning. You will delve into the intricacies of access cavity preparation, root canal instrumentation, obturation techniques, and the use of advanced technologies such as dental operating microscopes. Through simulated clinical scenarios and practical exercises on extracted teeth and specially designed endodontic models, you will gain confidence in performing various endodontic procedures.
The small group setting fosters an environment of collaboration, enabling you to learn from your peers, exchange ideas, and engage in lively discussions. You will have the opportunity to analyze challenging cases, discuss treatment options, and receive feedback.
By the conclusion of this course, you will emerge with enhanced clinical skills, a deeper understanding of endodontic techniques, and the ability to better tackle complex endodontic cases with precision and confidence. The group is limited to 6 participants and divided into two groups (A and B). Group A will work on their patients in the morning while group B will be the assistants; and vice versa in the afternoon.
Course Format:
8 am – 9 am: case presentation/ lecture
9 am – 12 pm: Group A
12 pm – 1:30pm: Lunch and case presentation
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Group B
4:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Case discussion
You will need to bring your own patients and rotary files that you use in your office. Dr. Wang will provide her state of art endodontic office. Every patient will require a pre-op complimentary CBCT taken at Dr. Wang’s office.
January 23: Introduction
9 am-12 pm: lecture
12 pm – 1 pm: lunch
1 pm – 4 pm: learn how to operate the microscope and how to interpret CBCT
